Shalimar Luis is a contemporary artist and creative director based in West New York, New Jersey.
Her work focuses on colorful paintings inspired by culture, architecture, and the natural world, exploring how color, form, and movement shape a sense of place. Sitting between illustration and fine art, her paintings use bold color, expressive shapes, and a strong sense of composition to create work that feels both playful and considered. Themes of exploration and curiosity run throughout, inviting viewers to slow down and form their own interpretations.
With Puerto Rican and Cuban roots and a background shaped in North Bergen, New Jersey, her approach to color and energy is influenced by environments that feel vibrant, warm, and alive.
Alongside her art practice, Shalimar brings nearly two decades of experience in design and creative direction. A graduate of the School of Visual Arts, she has led and contributed to award-winning digital work for clients including Apple, National Geographic, and American Express, earning recognition from the Webby Awards, W3 Awards, and Adobe.
